Course Curriculum

This credentialing program is comprised of a total of 22 units spread across 5 modules (see attached diagram). Each unit consists of a 45-minute lecture supplemented by readings, exercises, and a topic-specific quiz. The first 17 units of thiscredentialing program are the same as those included in CRESTS-Achieve for Educators/Parents (a 4-module program).

The unique feature of CRESTS-Achieve for Mental Health Professionals is the 5th module, which contains 5 additional units that are specifically designed for mental health professionals (i.e., counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, etc.).

These 5 units include summaries of relevant research studies; analyses of clinical case studies; and culture-centered, trauma-informed assessment tools and intervention strategies aimed at equipping mental health professionals to be more effective at intervening with Black (and other socially marginalized) schoolchildren and their families.

As part of the CRESTS-Achieve Program’s ongoing evaluation procedures, each participant will be required to complete an online pre-test (not to be topic-specific) prior to beginning the CRESTS training.  Each participant must also complete the online post-test (no minimum score required) after completing all required training components in order to receive a program completion certificate.
